RIVOTRIL WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED
Clonazepam , the active ingredient of Rivotril belongs to a group of benzodiazepines and has expressed attributes to control the seizures. The action of Rivotril occurs after 30 to 60 minutes.
Rivotril is used to treat certain forms of epilepsy (fits) .
2 . BEFORE YOU TAKE RIVOTRIL
Do not take Rivotril :
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzodiazepines to clonazepam or any of the other ingredients of Rivotril ;
If you suffer from severe , chronic lung disease ;
if you are in severe shock ;
if you're depending on other drugs or alcohol;
if you have alcohol poisoning or poisoning by other drugs in the group of antiepileptic ( anti- seizure ) , sleeping pills and painkillers , neuroleptics ( anti- psychosis and other psychiatric disorders) , antidepressants ( for depression ) and lithium .
Take special care with Rivotril
if signs of anaphylactic shock (ie cold sweats , shortness of breath , tachycardia - heart palpitations ) , have immediately seek medical attention ;
if you have heart failure and / or disorders of the respiratory function , or serious illness of the respiratory system ;
if you have a disorder of the liver ;
If you suffer from myasthenia gravis (a disease in which there is muscle weakness) ;
if you have impaired motor conduction ( spinal or cerebellar ataxia ) ;
If you suffer from apnea during sleep ( respiratory disease states during sleep in relation to loud snoring ) ;
if your body is weak or you are elderly ;
if you are dependent on alcohol or drugs , if you are depressed or have attempted suicide .
With longer treatment in high doses may occur depending on the patient's medication .
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Effects of certain drugs can strengthen or weaken when used together with Rivotril . Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking Rivotril if at the same time and taking the following medicines. With the concomitant use of Rivotril other compounds acting depressing the central nervous system , may result in increased mutual enhancement of effects. This group includes : sedatives and sleeping medications , drugs for the treatment of depression and the treatment of convulsions, a medicinal agent for the treatment of allergies or rhinitis, pain and certain drugs . When used alone , alcohol can suppress seizures.
Taking Rivotril with food and drink
If taken together with Rivotril , alcohol can alter the drug , compromising the treatment and cause occurrence of adverse reactions.
Pregnancy and lactation
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine . Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding , and obey any instructions issued .
Your doctor will decide whether you should take Rivotril during pregnancy .
During treatment with Rivotril should not breastfeed. As Rivotril in infants and young children leads to increased salivation or increased secretion of mucus in the lungs, it is necessary to ensure airway patency .
Driving and using machines

Important information about some of the ingredients of Rivotril
This medicinal product contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this product.
3 . HOW TO TAKE RIVOTRIL
Always take Rivotril exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Your doctor will tell you what time of day you need to take the tablets. He / she determines your dose and duration of treatment. Strictly follow your doctor's instructions and do not change the prescribed dosage. If you think you Rivotril act lightly or heavily , tell your doctor.
For the prevention of adverse events in the beginning of treatment the daily dosage is gradually increased in the course of 1 to 3 weeks , up to the necessary maintenance dose .
Infants and children up to 10 years or 30 kg of body weight:
Initial dose : daily 0,01 - 0,03 mg / kg, divided into 2-3 doses. The dosage should not be increased more than 0,25 - 0,5 mg / kg every third day until they reach a maintenance dose of 0,1 mg / kg. The maximum daily dose for children is 0,2 mg / kg , and must not be exceeded .
Children from 10 to 16 years :
Rivotril tablets of 0.5 mg: Initial dose : 2-2 tablets daily , divided into 2-3 doses. This dose can be increased every third day , to achieve the maintenance dose of 6 to 12 tablets per day .
Rivotril tablets 2 mg: Initial dose : daily 1/2 - 3/4 tablet in 2-3 divided doses. This dose can be increased every third day , to achieve the maintenance dose of 1 or 1/2 to 3 tablets per day .
Rivotril tablets of 0.5 mg: The initial dose should be 3 tablets per day - in three divided doses . The dose may be increased to 2 tablets every third day , to achieve the maintenance dose of 6 to 12 tablets per day .
Rivotril tablets of 2 mg: The initial dose should be 3/4 tablets per day - in three divided doses . The dose may be increased by 1/2 tablet every third day , to achieve the maintenance dose of 11 /2 to 3 tablets per day .
During maintenance therapy, the daily dose may be taken at one time in the evening . For some patients, the physician determines the higher doses .
Special dosage instructions
Your doctor will determine the dosage of Rivotril :
If you must take both other drugs against seizures ( antiepileptic) ;
if you have liver disease or organic brain disease ;
if you are too old or do not feel well.
If you take an overdose of Rivotril
Overdose of Rivotril appears dizziness, stupor , confusion , expressed impaired motor conduction and muscle weakness, severe respiratory failure , unconsciousness or severe excitability .
If these phenomena occur to you or you find these signs in someone taking Rivotril , call a physician immediately .
If you stop taking Rivotril

4 . POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Rivotril may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Generally, Rivotril is well tolerated by patients. Adverse reactions that occur especially at the beginning of treatment (fatigue, drowsiness , dizziness, numbness , dizziness , difficulty breathing , delayed reactions , muscle weakness , visual disturbances such as double vision and eye tremors , impaired motor conduction , slow or slurred speech) corresponding to the sedative and muscle discharge effect of the active substance which it contains Rivotril , and in most cases subside themselves during treatment . 5 . HOW TO STORE RIVOTRIL
Keep out of reach of children.
Keep the bottle in the outer carton to protect from light.
Rivotril not use after the expiry date stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Residue can return to the pharmacy .

What does Rivotril
The active substance is clonazepam .
Other ingredients are:
Rivotril tablets from 0,5 mg: lactose, corn starch, potato starch, pregelatinized , iron oxide red ( E 172 ), iron oxide yellow ( E 172 ) , talc, magnesium stearate.
Rivotril tablets of 2 mg: lactose , starch , pregelatinized , microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.
