Kandekard belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin II. These drugs work by expanding blood vessels, the heart can more easily pump blood through them.

What Kandekard and what it is used

Kandekard belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin II. These drugs work by expanding blood vessels, the heart can more easily pump blood through them. Kandekard tablets are used:

  to treat high blood pressure (hypertension);

  to treat heart failure (condition in which the heart can not pump enough blood to meet the body's needs);


 Before you take Kandekard


Kandekard Do not take if:


 you are allergic (hypersensitive) to candesartan cilexetil or any of the other ingredients of the drug (see section 6)

  have severe liver or biliary obstruction (problems with drainage of bile from the gall bladder)

 If you are pregnant after the third month. (You should also avoid the use of Kandekard and early pregnancy - see. Section "Pregnancy and lactation").


Kandekard should not be given to children.


If you think any of these apply to you, consult your doctor or pharmacist.


 Take special care with Kandekard


Before you take Kandekard, tell your doctor if:


 have heart problems, liver or kidney

  if you have had a stroke

  you have recently had a kidney transplant

  you are on dialysis

  have low blood pressure

  vomit, have recently vomited or have diarrhea

  suffer from a disease of the adrenal gland


(Conn's syndrome or hyperaldosteronism)

  need surgery because Kandekard can cause a drop in blood pressure when combined with anesthetics


You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Kandekard not recommended in early pregnancy, and must be taken within 3 months of pregnancy because it may cause serious harm to your baby if used at that stage (see section "Pregnancy and lactation").


Taking other medicines


Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines. This includes herbal medicines and medicines obtained without a prescription. Kandekard can affect other medicines and other medicines can affect Kandekard. If you are taking certain medications, you may need your doctor occasionally do blood tests.


In particular, tell your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines:


 other medicines that help lower your blood pressure, including ACE inhibitors such as enaparil, kaptoril, or lizonopril ramipiril

  medicines such as ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac, known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NPVL)

  drugs such as celecoxib or etoricoxib, known as COX-2 inhibitors

  aspirin if you are taking more than 3 g daily

  potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium

  heparin (blood-thinning drugs)

  Water tablets (diuretics)

  lithium (a medicine used to treat mania or depression).


 Taking Kandekard with food and drink


Food does not affect the blood pressure lowering effect of candesartan.


Pregnancy and lactation




You should tell your doctor if you think you are (or might become) pregnant. Generally, your doctor will advise you to take another medicine instead Kandekard as Kandekard not recommended in early pregnancy and can cause serious harm to your baby if used after 3 months of pregnancy.




Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding or about to start breast-feeding. Kandekard not recommended for nursing mothers, so your doctor may choose another treatment for you if you wish to breast-feed, especially if your baby is newborn, or was born prematurely.


Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.


Driving and operating machinery


Kandekard not affect the concentration, but other effects such as dizziness or fatigue associated with lowering blood pressure may occur in some patients, particularly early in treatment or when the dose is increased. If you get such reactions, your ability to drive or operate machinery may be impaired.


Important information about some of the ingredients of Kandekard


Lactose is one of the ingredients of this medicine. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars before taking this medicine, you should consult your doctor.


 How to take Kandekard


Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. If you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Kandekard can be used alone or with other medications that lower blood pressure. Kandekard usual doses are:


High blood pressure:


The recommended starting dose and usual maintenance dose is 8 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 16 mg once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment with 16 mg once daily, the dose may be further increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. If with this dose not achieve control of blood pressure is recommended combination with thiazide di-uretitsi or calcium channel blockers. Treatment should be adjusted according to blood pressure response. Maximum antihypertensive effect is attained within 4 weeks after treatment.


Use in renal impairment:


The starting dose in patients with impaired renal function is a 4 mg, including in patients on hemodialysis. The dosage should be determined by reference to the response. Experience in patients with very severe renal insufficiency or end-stage renal disease (creatinine <15 ml / min) is limited.


Use in hepatic impairment:


In patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment initial dose of 2 mg once daily. The dose should be adjusted according to response. There is no experience in patients with severe hepatic impairment.


Use in the elderly


It is not necessary initial dose adjustment in elderly patients.


Use in patients with intravascular volume depletion:


You might consider initial dose of 4 mg in patients at risk of hypotension, such as patients who are likely to be low volume


Use in black patients antihypertensive effect of candesartan cilexetil is less in black patients than in non-black patients. Therefore, in black than non-black patients may more often need to increase the dose of candesartan cilexetil and apply combination therapy to control blood pressure.


Heart failure:


The usual recommended starting dose of candesartan cilexetil is 4 mg once daily. Increasing the dose to the target dose of 32 mg once daily or the highest tolerated dose is done by doubling the dose at intervals of at least 2 weeks.


Special populations


It is not necessary initial dose adjustment in elderly patients or patients with intravascular volume depletion, renal impairment or mild to moderate hepatic impairment.


Combination therapy


Candesartan can be used with other treatments for heart failure, including ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, diuretics and digitalis or a combination of these products.


Take your / your tablet / and a glass of water, preferably at the same time every day, before or during a meal.


Kandekard not suitable for use by children.


If you take more than the dose Kandekard


If you (or someone else) take more tablets than you should immediately contact the nearest emergency room or call your doctor. The most likely effect of overdose is low blood pressure. If there is a significant decrease in blood pressure (may show symptoms such as dizziness or faintness) can help if you stand in the supine position with legs raised.


However, if symptoms are severe, take with you this leaflet, any remaining tablets and the container and take them to the hospital or your doctor to know what these tablets you take.


If you forget to take Kandekard


It is important to take your medicine every day. However, if you forget to take one or more doses, take it as soon as you remember and then continue its normal mode. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.


If you stop taking Kandekard


Always consult your doctor if you should stop taking this medicine. You may need to continue taking this medication even if you feel well.

 Possible side effects


Like all medicines, Kandekard can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them


These side effects occur very rarely (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people). However, if you notice any of these side effects, contact your doctor immediately:

  swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, eyes or throat

  difficulty in breathing

 dizziness or fainting


These are symptoms of a serious reaction, which must be treated immediately, usually in a hospital.


Contact your doctor immediately in case of:

  jaundice (yellowing of the skin and / or eyes)


Other possible side effects: Common (affects less than 1 in 10 people):


 dizziness, dizziness (vertigo)

  headaches, respiratory infections

  low blood pressure

  increased levels of potassium in your blood, especially if you already suffer from kidney problems or heart failure

  effect on the kidneys, especially if you already suffer from kidney problems or heart failure


Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people):



  back pain, joints and muscles

  skin rash, hives


  reduced number of your red or white blood cells or platelets you. It may occur when you fatigue, infection, fever or easy bruising collision. Your doctor may occasionally do blood tests to check whether Kandekard influenced in some way to your blood.
