suffer from severe liver failure.
Take special care with STADA 100 mg Doxycycline
Not be imposed special measures in patients with renal insufficiency.
Showed an infection caused by staphylococci , streptococci and pneumococci should not be treated with this drug because of their resistance to doxycycline.
Patients receiving 100 mg Doxycycline STADA in combination with some blood sugar lowering medications or anticoagulants (see Taking other medicines ) should regularly monitor blood glucose levels and / or bleeding with doses of these drugs should be reduced appropriately. Studies of glucose, protein , urobilinogen or catecholamines in the urine may indicate false ( positive or negative ) outcomes during treatment with tetracyclines (including doxycycline ) . Sun exposure can lead to the emergence of phototoxic skin reactions ( see Chapter 4 . Possible side effects). Because of this, sunbathing or solarium visit should be avoided during treatment with doxycycline STADA 100 mg. Tell your anesthesiologist before anesthesia that you take Doxycycline STADA 100 mg ( see Taking other medicines).
When treated with doxycycline more than 21 days should be regularly conducted blood tests , liver and kidney functions.
In the treatment of gonococcal infection 3-4 days after stopping treatment with doxycycline should see your doctor again to avoid re-infection .
Children under 8 years of age should be treated with doxycycline 100 mg STADA after careful consideration of the benefit in terms of the potential risks (see Pregnancy and lactation ) .
No special precautions for the elderly .
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Medications or foods that contain any of the following substances should be taken 2-3 hours before taking doxycycline for doxycycline absorption from the gastrointestinal tract may be reduced by :
Aluminum and magnesium ( eg contained . In antacids ) ;
Calcium (contained in milk and dairy products);
Drugs containing iron ;
Cholestyramine (a drug lowering lipids ( fats ) in the blood) .
The effect of doxycycline can be reduced by :
Rifampicin (antibiotic) ;
Medicines of the barbiturates (eg, tranquilizers and sleeping pills ) ;
Other anticonvulsant drugs ( carbamazepine, phenytoin and primidone ) .
How STADA 100 mg of doxycycline may influence the effect of other drugs
Doxycycline may increase the effects of (see Take special care with STADA Doxycycline 100 mg):
sulfonylurea oral antidiabetic drugs (eg certain drugs lower blood glucose) ;
some anticoagulants ( dicoumarol type anticoagulants) . Patients taking these drugs in combination with doxycycline should be regularly monitored for blood glucose levels and / or bleeding with doses of these drugs may, if necessary to reduce .
Doxycycline may increase the toxic effects of cyclosporin A ( an immunosuppressant to suppress immunity in transplantation) .
Tell your doctor if you are taking the following medicines:
Isotretinoin (used in the treatment of severe acne ) - Doxycycline is not to be used shortly before, during , or after treatment of acne vulgaris with isotretinoin because both drugs , although rarely increased intracranial pressure ( pseudotumor brain) , which spontaneously resolves after discontinuation of therapy ;
Beta lactam antibiotics , e. penicillins , cephalosporins (another antibiotic ) - Co-administration should be avoided because sensitivity tests show that these drugs tend to mutually reduce ( antagonists) antibacterial activity ;
Theophylline ( a drug used in asthma ) - Co -administration may result in an increase in the incidence of gastrointestinal side effects;
Methoxyflurane ( anesthetic ) - The administration of the anesthetic methoxyflurane or other potentially damaging kidneys medications during treatment with doxycycline 100 mg STADA can lead to renal failure (see Take special care with STADA Doxycycline 100 mg).
In rare cases , the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraceptives ( " the pill ") can be decreased during the treatment with doxycycline STADA 100 mg. For this to be used in the additive and non-hormonal (conventional) methods of contraception. Please note that this information applies to drugs that have recently taken .

Significant side effects or signs for which to watch and measures for their treatment
The following side effects (for details cf. Below ) may be life threatening . Please seek immediate medical attention if any of these conditions appear suddenly or deteriorate unexpectedly.
Pseudomembranous colitis :
Depending on the patient's doctor may decide to discontinue therapy with doxycycline and if necessary to immediately start appropriate therapy (eg . Use of specific antibiotics / chemotherapeutics with clinically proven for this condition ) . Should not be administered drugs inhibit intestinal peristalsis ( peristaltic drugs ) .
Severe acute hypersensitivity reactions (eg anaphylaxis)
Must be immediately stopped and the administration of doxycycline to begin normal emergency procedures (e.g., administration of antihistamines , corticosteroids, sympathomimetics , and if necessary, mechanical ventilation of the lung) .
For the evaluation of the side effects using the following classification based on their occurrence frequency :
Very common: More than 1 in 10 patients treated ;
Common: When less than 1 in 10 , but more than 1 in 100 patients treated ;
Uncommon : If less than 1 in 100 , but more than 1 per 1000 patients treated ;
Rare : If less than 1 in 1,000 , but more than 1 in 10 000 patients treated ;
Very rare in less than 1 in 10 000 patients treated, including isolated instances ;
Not known from the available data can not be estimated .
Not known : Studies of glucose, protein , urobilinogen or catecholamines in urine may give false ( positive or negative ) outcomes during treatment with tetracyclines (including doxycycline ) .
Gastrointestinal tract :
Common: gastrointestinal symptoms, eg . nausea, epigastric distress , heartburn , vomiting , flatulence ( bloating from gas generation ) , soft stools and diarrhea. Taking this medicine during or immediately after a meal can reduce these side effects to some extent without significantly slow down the rate of absorption of the drug.

If during therapy or up to several weeks after stopping treatment complained of severe persistent diarrhea, this may mean that you have developed pseudomembranous colitis (which
usually caused by Clostridium difficile). This is caused by antibiotic therapy bowel disease can be life-threatening and therefore should immediately contact a doctor as it requires urgent and adequate treatment (see Significant side effects or signs that you should watch and measures for their treatment ) .
Nervous system disorders :
Rare intracranial hypertension ( pseudotumor cerebri ) , a condition that is reversible after discontinuation of therapy. Expressed in headache, nausea , vomiting, and some patients may have visual impairment due to swelling of the optic nerve due to increased accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid ( papilloedema ) .
Skin and appendages :
Uncommon: Allergic skin reactions to doxycycline ( vzh.Reaktsii hypersensitivity ) . When exposed to sunlight, due to photosensitivity may develop phototoxic reactions ( symptomatic expressed as sunburn - redness, swelling , blisters, discoloration of the skin) . Very rarely occur with a change of nails ( falling, splitting and discoloration of the nail ) .
