Loratadine contains the active substance loratadine, which belongs to the group of antihistamines (anti-allergic medicines). It is used to treat the symptoms of some allergic diseases due to increased histamine release.

What is Loratadine and what it is used for
Loratadine contains the active substance loratadine, which belongs to the group of antihistamines (anti-allergic medicines). It is used to treat the symptoms of some allergic diseases due to increased histamine release. Loratadine Unipharma is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (itching of the nose, sneezing and watery secretion, redness of the eyes) and chronic idiopathic urticaria (pruritus, redness and swelling of the skin).
If after 10 days you do not feel better or your condition gets worse, you should seek medical attention.
2. What you need to know before taking Loratadine
Do not take Loratadine Unipharm if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Loratadine Unipharm if you suffer from liver disease
if you are going to have a skin allergy test done. The use of the product should be stopped at least 48 hours before the skin test, as antihistamines such as loratadine may affect or mask the otherwise positive skin reaction.
Other Drugs and Loratadine
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Co-administration of loratadine with erythromycin (antibiotic), cimetidine and ketoconazole (antimycotic agents) has been shown to increase the concentration of loratadine in the blood, but this does not lead to clinical changes (including electrocardiogram).
Loratadine with food, drink and alcohol
Taking the tablets is not dependent on food intake. The effects of alcohol are not enhanced by taking Loratadine Unipharm.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use loratadine during pregnancy.
It is not recommended to take Loratadine Unipharm during breastfeeding, as loratadine passes into breast milk.
Driving and using machines
Rebates are rare, somnolence may occur which may adversely affect your ability to drive and use machines. Therefore, it is advisable to wait and evaluate your individual response before driving or operating machines.
Loratadine contains lactose: If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this product.
3. How to take Loratidin
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Loratadine Unipharma tablets are taken orally with enough water (eg a glass of water), regardless of food intake.
Maximum daily dose - 10 mg (1 tablet).
The recommended dose is:
Adults and depots over 12 years old - 1 tablet per day.
Children from 6 to 12 years old
- weighing more than 30 kg - 1 tablet per day,
- weighing less than 30 kg - the use of the syrup formulation is recommended or 1/2 tablet a day.
Children from 2 to 6 years old
The use of the syrup dosage form is recommended.
Landfills under 2 years
The safety and efficacy of Loratadine Unipharm in children under 2 years of age has not been established.
Patients with impaired hepatic and renal function
Patients with severe hepatic impairment are initially given a lower dose
- For adults and children weighing over 30 kg, 1 tablet per day is recommended.
- For children weighing less than 30 kg, 1/2 tablet per day is recommended.
For patients with renal impairment - 1 tablet per day.
Patients over 65 years of age - 1 tablet per day.
Treatment with loratadine may be prolonged - from 2 to 6 months.
If you take more Loratadine Unipharm than you should
If you take a higher dose than prescribed, dizziness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting may occur. In case of overdosage, seek medical attention.
If you forget to take Loratadine
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it's almost time for the next dose, take it as usual.
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
Most often, children aged between 2 and 12 years experience headaches, nervousness and a feeling of fatigue. Adults and adolescents most often experience drowsiness, headache, increased appetite, insomnia.
Adverse reactions are classified by frequency as follows:
Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
• hypersensitivity reaction - angioedema (a severe allergic reaction that causes swelling of the face or throat) and anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction that causes difficulty in breathing or dizziness), dizziness, convulsions
• palpitations, accelerated heart rhythm
• nausea, dry mouth, inflammation of the stomach
• impaired hepatic function
• rash, hair loss, fatigue
5. How to store Loratadine
Store in a dry place protected from light at temperatures below 25 ° C. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Loratadine Unifarm after the expiry date which is stated on the carton.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of medicines in the sewer or in the household waste container. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of your unnecessary medicines. These measures will help to protect the environment.
